Create and manage mailboxes

Add a mailbox, keep its password safe, reset it, change its size, delete it, and set up aliases and forwarding.

Updated 27 Oct 2026

Mailboxes live on the Mailboxes page of the Business Email app. Owners and Admins can add, change and delete them. You need to have bought at least one mailbox on the Plan page first, and your domain must be connected to the site.

Add a mailbox

  1. Open the site in the editor and go to Business Email, then Mailboxes.
  2. Select Add mailbox.
  3. Type the part before the @, for example hello. The form checks as you type that the address is free.
  4. Type a Name. It is shown to people who get mail from this address.
  5. Type a Password, or select Generate for a strong one. It must be at least 8 characters.
  6. Leave the Size at 10 GB, or choose from 2 to 25 GB.
  7. Select Add mailbox.

Some names are kept for the mail system, such as postmaster. If you pick one, the form asks for another. Use letters, digits, dots and dashes only.

If all the mailboxes you bought are in use, the form offers Buy another mailbox. A site can have up to 10 mailboxes. To have more, email us.

The password is shown once

When the mailbox is created, the screen shows its password with a Copy button. This is the only time you will see it. We do not keep it. Copy it and give it to whoever will use the mailbox. If it is lost, reset it.

Reset a password

  1. On Mailboxes, open the menu on the mailbox's row.
  2. Choose Reset password.
  3. Type a new password or select Generate, then select Reset password.

The old password stops working straight away, and mail apps that were signed in with it will ask for the new one. The new password is shown once, like the first.

Change a mailbox's size

Choose Change size in the row menu and pick a size from 2 to 25 GB. It costs nothing. You cannot choose a size smaller than the mail the mailbox already holds. Choose a bigger size, or delete mail first.

Delete a mailbox

Deleting is permanent. It removes the mailbox and all its mail, and it cannot be undone.

  1. In the row menu, choose Delete mailbox.
  2. Type the full address to confirm.
  3. Select Delete mailbox.

The mail is cleared first. If that cannot be done right now, the mailbox is not deleted and you see a message saying so. No mail is lost. Its password may have been reset on our side, so if it stops working, choose Reset password. Try deleting again in a minute. Creating the same address again later starts empty.

Deleting a mailbox does not lower your bill. To pay for fewer mailboxes from the next renewal, change the count on the Plan page. See Business Email billing and renewal. If you want a copy of the mail first, add the mailbox to a mail app and copy the folders across before you delete it.

Aliases

An alias is an extra address, like [email protected], that delivers into one or more of your mailboxes. Aliases are free, up to 20 for a site.

  1. On Mailboxes, open the Aliases area and select Add alias.
  2. Type the alias.
  3. Tick the mailboxes it should deliver to.
  4. Select Add alias.

You cannot use an address that is already a mailbox or an alias.

Forwarding

Forwarding sends a copy of a mailbox's mail to an address outside your domain.

  1. In the Forwarding area, select Set up next to the mailbox.
  2. Type the address to forward a copy to.
  3. Choose whether to Keep a copy here. On, mail stays in the mailbox and a copy goes out. Off, it only goes out.
  4. Select Save forwarding.

Forwarding to Hotmail or Gmail can get your mail marked as spam. If you can, add the mailbox to your phone or to Outlook instead. See Set up email on your devices.

Common questions

Can Editors on my team add mailboxes? No. Owners and Admins can. Editors can look at the pages only.

Can FastCloud staff read my mail? Only after you ask us to. Every action by staff on your domain is recorded with the name of the person who did it.

It says ContentMetric could not reach the mail server. Nothing was changed. Try again in a minute.
