Embed a map, video or calendar

Show a Google Map, a video, a booking calendar or a music player on your page by pasting one link or embed code.

Updated 17 Oct 2026

The Embed block shows content from another website right on your page: a map to your shop, a video, a booking calendar, a form or a music player. You paste a link or the embed code into one box and the block does the rest.

Add an embed

  1. Open your site in the editor and open the page you want.
  2. Click the add (plus) button to open the block menu, then pick Embed in the Media group. You can also type "embed", "map" or "video" in the search box at the top of the menu.
  3. In the settings panel, paste a link or embed code into Link or embed code.
  4. Click Embed.

The block shows a live preview in the editor. In the editor the preview sits behind a click shield, so a click selects the block instead of using the map or video. If the preview has not loaded after about eight seconds, you see a plain card instead. The embed still works on your published page.

What you can paste

You can paste either of these:

  • A link, such as the address of a video or a booking page.
  • Embed code, the block of text from a site's Share or Embed button. It starts with <iframe. If the code has a height or a title, the block keeps them.

The block recognises these sites and sets a sensible size for each one:

  • Google Maps, including the short links from Google Maps' Share button
  • YouTube
  • Vimeo
  • Calendly
  • Spotify
  • Google Forms

It also works with most other sites that give you an embed code. If the code carries more than one frame, the block uses the first one and tells you.

Google Maps links from the Share button

The short links Google Maps gives you under Share (they start with maps.app.goo.gl or goo.gl/maps) work too. ContentMetric looks up the place for you and turns the link into a map that can be shown on your page.

If the lookup does not work, paste the embed code instead:

  1. In Google Maps, find your place and click Share.
  2. Click Embed a map.
  3. Click Copy HTML, and paste that into the box.

Change the size and settings

After you embed something, the panel shows these settings:

  • Size: Wide 16:9, Standard 4:3, Square 1:1 or Fixed height. With a fixed height you type the height in pixels.
  • Title for screen readers: a short description, such as "Map to our shop". Screen readers read it out for visitors who cannot see the page. If you leave it empty, the block uses a plain title such as "Map" or "Video".
  • Load when scrolled into view: on by default. The embed loads only when a visitor scrolls to it, so your page opens faster.
  • Allow full screen: lets visitors open a video full screen. It starts on for video sites and off for maps.

To use a different link, click Replace and paste the new one.

Only secure links work

The link must start with https://. A link that starts with http:// is blocked by browsers on a secure page, so the block asks you to use the https:// version.

Code that runs a script

Some sites give you code that runs a script instead of showing a frame. It often starts with <script. The Embed block cannot use that code. Add it under Site settings, Custom code instead.

What your published page allows

When you publish, your page lets in only the sites you actually embedded on it. If a page has a Google Map, that page allows Google to show the map and nothing else. A page with no embed does not allow any outside frame. You do not need to add anything yourself.

Common questions

The embed shows in the editor but is blank on my live page. Publish again and reload the page. Browsers can keep an older copy of a page for a few minutes. If it is still blank, check that the link starts with https:// and that the site you embedded allows other sites to show it.

Can I embed a whole page of another website? Only if that website allows it. Many sites block being shown inside other pages. Use the embed code or Share button the site provides.

Can I use more than one embed on a page? Yes. Add one Embed block for each map, video or calendar.
