A Framer alternative for business owners
By the ContentMetric team · Checked on 17 October 2026

The short answer
Framer is a design tool, and cheap to start: Basic is $10 a month, Pro is $30. If you run a business and do not want to learn a design tool, ContentMetric is the simpler alternative: you describe the business, and on Pro a specialist designs the site and handles updates. Stay on Framer if you or your designer want full visual control.
We make ContentMetric, so we are not neutral. This page says where Framer is better. Everything about Framer below comes from its own pricing page, checked on 17 October 2026.
The short answer
- You run a business and want a site without learning a design tool: ContentMetric.
- You want a person to design it and keep it updated: ContentMetric Pro.
- You or your designer want pixel-level control and motion: stay on Framer.
- You want a template-led site with a store option: see our Squarespace guide.
- You want a bigger content system: see our Webflow guide.
What Framer is good at
Framer is a visual design tool that publishes real websites. People use it for sites that look unusual and move well. Its free plan lets you design pages and publish to a Framer address. Its paid plans start low, and it has AI features that use credits.
If you or someone on your team already designs in tools like Figma, Framer is a natural home. It is a strong choice for a portfolio, a startup landing page or a brand site where the look is the whole point.
Why business owners look for a Framer alternative
It is still a design tool
Framer's AI can start a page for you, but you then work on a design canvas. Someone has to decide spacing, type and layout, and someone has to keep editing. If you would rather say "add our new opening hours" and have it done, a canvas is more than you need. This is our view, not a Framer statement.
Cheap to start, but it grows in pieces
Framer's plans are priced by what you use. The list below shows limits that cost extra when you go past them:
- Pages: 30 on Basic, 150 on Pro, then $20 per extra 100 on Pro.
- CMS collections: 2 on Basic, 10 on Pro, then $40 per extra 10.
- Bandwidth: 50 GB on Basic and 100 GB on Pro, then $40 per extra 100 GB on Pro.
- Editors: the workspace owner is free. Extra editors are $20 a month each. Content-only editors are $10 each. Viewers are free.
For a small business site, none of these limits is a problem. If you add people to edit, the total changes.
What Framer costs
| Plan | Price a month | What it gives you |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | A Framer address, 1 GB bandwidth, 500 AI credits to try |
| Basic | $10 | Custom domain, 30 pages, 2 CMS collections, 50 GB bandwidth, built-in SEO |
| Pro | $30 | 150 pages, 10 CMS collections, 100 GB bandwidth, redirects, staging, branching with previews |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom limits, security and support |
Framer's page also says a complimentary domain is included on yearly billing. It has a billing switch, so check whether the page shows monthly or yearly prices when you look. We did not find the other billing option's prices in what we read.
What ContentMetric costs
- Free, US$0: 30 credits a month, one site, a contentmetric.com address, a small badge. Not a trial.
- Pro, US$49 a month (US$470 a year): your own domain, 150 credits a month, the badge can be hidden, ten people, and a specialist who designs the site and handles updates.
- Business, US$98 a month (US$940 a year): three sites, 400 credits a month, and the shop.
Pro costs more than Framer's Basic or Pro. The difference is the person: a design specialist does the work, rather than you or your designer. A credit is one AI change to your site. See our pricing.

Where Framer is better: price at the start, design freedom, and staging and branching if you work with a designer. Where ContentMetric is better: you do not need to learn the tool, and a person can run the site for you.
Can you export a Framer site?
We could not find a statement about exporting a Framer site's code on its pricing page, so we will not guess. Before you commit, ask Framer, and keep your own copy of your text and images either way. Leaving any design tool means rebuilding the layout on the next one.
How to move from Framer to ContentMetric
- Start free. Describe your business and see it as a ContentMetric site. Your Framer site stays live.
- Save your content. Copy your page text and download your images from Framer.
- Move to Pro if you want a specialist to design the new site with your content.
- Connect your domain. Add two DNS records at your registrar and wait from 5 minutes to 48 hours. See how to connect a domain.
- Cancel Framer after the new site is live and checked.
Who should stay on Framer
Stay if any of these sound like you:
- You pay a designer who already builds in Framer, and the site is part of your brand.
- Your site needs animation, unusual layouts or a very particular look.
- You want staging and branching, so a designer can try changes without touching the live site.
- You enjoy designing, and updating the site is a task you like rather than one you put off.
Moving a site you are happy with just to save time you do not need to save is a bad trade.
Questions to ask before you switch
Who made the site, and who has the login?
Many Framer sites are built by a freelancer. Check that you, not the freelancer, own the Framer account and the domain. If you do not, sort that out first. It matters whichever tool you choose next.
How often does the site change?
If it changes twice a year, the cheapest plan and a patient designer is fine. If it changes every week, such as new offers, hours or staff, the time cost of each change matters more than the monthly fee.
What happens to my search results?
Keep your page addresses the same where you can, and add a redirect from any old address that has to change. Then check your pages in Google a few weeks after the move. Our guide on getting your business on Google explains the basics.
A fair test before you decide
Try the free plan of each. In Framer, start from its AI and see how far you get on your homepage in an hour. In ContentMetric, describe your business and look at what comes back. Ask yourself which one you would be happy to keep editing every month. The one you will actually update is the better site.

Common questions
Is Framer free?
Framer has a free plan. It publishes to a Framer address and includes 1 GB of bandwidth and 500 AI credits to try. A custom domain needs a paid plan, which Framer lists from $10 a month.
Is Framer good for small business websites?
It can be, if you or a designer will keep working in it. It is a design tool, so it suits people who care about how every page looks. If you want to describe changes in plain words, a simpler builder may suit you better.
What does Framer cost for a team?
The workspace owner is free. Extra editors cost $20 a month each, content-only editors cost $10 each, and viewers are free. The plan price is separate from editor seats.
What is the best Framer alternative for non-designers?
A builder that makes the site from a description and keeps updates simple. ContentMetric is one, and on Pro a design specialist does the work. Our comparison of AI website builders lists others.
