Set up your domain for Business Email

The six DNS records Business Email needs, how to replace your old SPF record, how long changes take, and what Check again does.

Updated 27 Oct 2026

Business Email works through your domain's DNS records. These are short entries kept at the company where you manage your domain. Once they are in place, mail sent to your domain reaches your mailboxes, and mail you send is trusted by other mail servers.

Your domain must already be connected to the site, in Settings, then Domains. Business Email uses that same connection, so you do not connect it a second time. Your website records and your email records sit side by side without trouble.

Find the records

  1. Open the site in the editor and go to Business Email, then Domain and setup.
  2. Under DNS records you will see six rows. Each row shows a Type, a Name and a Value, with a Copy button.
  3. Sign in where you manage your domain and add each record exactly as shown.

If we can tell which company runs your DNS, the page says so and links to their instructions under How to add records.

The six records

Record What it does
MX, Mail delivery Sends mail for your domain to mail.fastcloud.sg. It has a priority of 10.
SPF, Spam protection Says ContentMetric may send mail as your domain.
DMARC, Spam protection Tells other mail servers what to do with fake mail pretending to be you.
DKIM, Signing key Signs your mail so other servers know it came from you. It is a signing key, not a password.
SRV, Device auto-setup A record for mail apps that look up their own settings.
CNAME, Device auto-setup A second record for the same purpose.

Add all six. Do not rely on the two device auto-setup records yet. Set up each mail app by hand with the settings in Set up email on your devices.

Replace your SPF record, do not add a second one

A domain can only have one SPF record. If your domain already has one, for example because you use Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, the page shows your current record next to the new one to use. The new one keeps everything your old record had and adds ours.

  1. Find the existing record at your domain provider. It is a TXT record that starts with v=spf1.
  2. Edit it and replace its value with the one the page shows.
  3. Do not create a second SPF record.

If your email is somewhere else today

If your domain's email is with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or another provider, the page tells you at the top. Once the MX record points to ContentMetric, new mail stops arriving at the old provider. Add the records when you are ready to switch.

How long it takes

DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to reach us, and often take much less. The page checks again every 30 seconds while it is open. You can also select Check again to look straight away. The page shows when it last checked.

Each row has a status:

Status What it means
Found The record is there and correct.
Not found No record yet. Normal at the start, and for up to 48 hours after you add it.
Wrong value A record is there, but it is not the one we need. A second line shows what we see.
Missing now It was found before and has gone. Someone removed it.
Could not read Our lookup failed. This is on our side, not yours. Check again in a minute.

When all six are found, the page says All 6 records found.

Common questions

Do I have to wait for the records before I buy mailboxes? No. Buying is never blocked by the records. Your mailboxes work once the records are found and a mailbox is paid for.

It says Wrong value for my SPF record. Your domain has an older SPF record that does not name us yet. Replace its value with the one on the page, as above.

A record that was Found now says Missing now. Someone removed or changed it at your domain provider. The Records page shows the state of every record, and Check again looks again right away. Once a day we also check the record that delivers your mail (the MX record). If that one stops pointing to us, the Business Email card on your Apps page and a banner say so. Add the record back and select Check again. Until then, mail sent to your mailboxes may not arrive.
