AI landing page builder: how to pick one and build a page that works

The short answer

An AI landing page builder makes a single page with one goal, such as getting a booking or an enquiry, from a short description of your offer. You review the page, change the words, and publish. Wix offers a free AI landing page, Unbounce is built for testing ads, Carrd is cheap, and ContentMetric lets you ask for a page in plain words and publish it on your own domain on Pro.

What a landing page is, and why it is different from a website

A website has many pages and many jobs. A landing page has one. It is the page a visitor arrives on after clicking an advert, a link in an email or a post, and it asks them to do one thing: book, call, sign up or send an enquiry.

Because there is one goal, a good landing page has fewer distractions. It usually drops the full menu and keeps one clear button. That is why people use a separate landing page builder, or a landing page inside their main site.

What an AI landing page builder does

You describe your offer. The tool writes the headline and the text, lays out the sections, and gives you a page to edit. You still need to check every fact, price and claim. The AI does not know your business as well as you do.

What matters is not the AI part, which most tools now have. It is what comes after the first draft: how easily you can change it, where the form messages go, whether you can use your own domain, and what it costs each month.

Four options, compared

ToolWhat it says about itselfPrice we saw
WixA free AI-powered landing page from a description of your campaign goal. Forms feed its built-in CRM. A/B testing is mentioned.Free to build. A custom domain and removing Wix branding need a paid plan. Plans start at $17 a month on Light, paid yearly.
UnbouncePlans are built around landing pages, traffic and A/B tests. AI copywriting on Build and above. Its pricing page also mentions an MCP server for Claude and ChatGPT.Starter $29 a month, or $22 a month billed yearly. Plans cap traffic. 14-day free trial.
CarrdPaid plans from $9 a year. Forms and custom domains on Pro Standard and above.Pro Standard $19 a year, with custom domains and forms. Pro Lite is $9 a year without those.
ContentMetricAsk for a page in plain words. Edit it by chat or by hand. A specialist on Pro.Free plan. Pro is $49 a month for your own domain.

Prices are those each company listed when we checked. They change by country and by billing period.

Where Wix wins

If you want a free landing page and a lot of control, Wix is hard to beat. Its landing page builder page says you can build and launch one without a paid plan, and it describes A/B testing so you can compare two versions. Paid plans add a custom domain.

Where Unbounce wins

If you run paid adverts and need to test several versions of a page, Unbounce is a specialist. Its plans are built around landing pages, traffic limits and A/B tests. That focus costs more per month than the other three, and it is a tool for people who run campaigns regularly.

Where Carrd wins

If you need one simple page at the lowest cost, Carrd's $19 a year is difficult to beat. Check which tier you need before you buy, because only Pro Standard and above list forms.

Where ContentMetric fits

We make ContentMetric, so judge this one with care. It is not a landing page specialist. It is a full small business website with an AI assistant, and a landing page is one more page on it. That suits you if the page should live next to your main site, share its look, and be changed by asking.

What our help centre documents today:

  • Build a page by asking. The AI assistant in the editor can create and change pages from a plain description. Changes land on your draft.
  • A form. Ask for a contact or enquiry form. Messages are saved in the Data area, and one email address is notified for every form on the site. Forms come with the Forms and Bookings app on Pro and above.
  • Search settings per page. The SEO panel sets the title, description and social image, and has a Hide from search engines switch. That is useful for a page that only advert visitors should see.
  • Schedule publish. Put a page live at a time you choose, such as the start of a campaign.
  • Your own domain. Custom domains start on Pro. A site on the free contentmetric.com address is not listed by search engines.

What is not documented: we do not list A/B testing, and our help centre does not describe built-in conversion reports for a single page, so assume they are not available. If you need to test two versions of an advert page every week, choose Unbounce or Wix.

What every good landing page needs

  1. One goal, one button. If a visitor can do five things, they often do none.
  2. A headline that matches the advert. If the ad says "Same-day boiler repair", the page should say so in the first line.
  3. The offer in plain words. What you do, for whom, where, and what it costs or how to find out.
  4. Proof you actually have. A real customer comment, a real photo, a real number. Never an invented one.
  5. A short form. Ask for name and a way to reach them. Each extra box loses some people.
  6. Works on a phone. Many visitors from adverts and social posts arrive on a phone. Preview it before you publish.
  7. Loads fast. Use photos at roughly the size they are shown. Very large files slow a page down.

A prompt to copy

This works in the editor's assistant, and the same idea works in most tools. Fill in the brackets with real facts.

Create a new page called 'Free first lesson' as a landing page. One goal: get visitors to book a free first lesson. Remove the main menu from this page and keep a logo that links to the Home page. Sections: a headline 'Try your first [lesson type] lesson free in [area]', three short benefits, a short 'how it works' in three steps, two real customer comments I will paste below, and a form with name, phone and preferred day. Under the form write: 'We reply within one working day.' Use only these facts and do not invent prices, awards or reviews: [paste your facts].

Then work through it one change at a time: tighten the headline, check the form, preview on a phone, set the search title and description, and decide whether the page should be hidden from search engines. If you are not sure how to ask for each edit, see how to edit your website with AI.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Sending advert visitors to your home page. The home page has many jobs. A landing page has one.
  • Letting the AI invent proof. Reviews, numbers and awards must come from you.
  • Forgetting where the form goes. Send a test message and confirm it arrives. If you do not get the email, check the notification address and your spam folder.
  • Leaving the page live after the offer ends. Update it, or take it out of the menu and hide it from search engines.

Landing page or website?

A landing page is not a replacement for a website. Customers who check you out will look for your address, hours, reviews and more. If you do not have those yet, see what a small business website should have. For the cost, read how much a website costs, and for other options see our comparison of AI website builders.

Common questions

What is an AI landing page builder?

It is a tool that creates a one-goal web page from a short description of your offer. It writes the headline and text, lays out the sections, and lets you edit and publish. You still check every fact before it goes live.

Can I build a landing page for free?

Yes, in some tools. Wix says you can build and launch a landing page without a paid plan, and ContentMetric has a free plan that stays online. A custom domain usually needs a paid plan, and on ContentMetric starts on Pro.

Do I need a separate landing page tool or a page on my website?

A separate tool helps if you run paid adverts and test versions often. For most small businesses, a landing page on your own site is simpler because it shares your look, domain and form settings.

Will Google show my landing page?

Only if you let it. A page on a free shared address is often not listed. On ContentMetric you can also switch on Hide from search engines for a page that only advert visitors should reach.
