Trade prices for businesses

Give cafes, shops and other businesses their own prices. Approve who may see them, and make price lists.

Updated 7 Oct 2026

Trade prices let businesses that buy from you in bulk see a cheaper price than everyone else. They apply on your site, you approve them, and from then on they sign in and see their own prices. Everyone else keeps seeing your normal prices.

Trade prices are off until you switch them on, so a shop that does not use them stays exactly as it is.

Switch trade prices on

  1. Open Shop settings, then Pricing and discounts.
  2. Switch on Trade prices.
  3. Choose Reply within. This is the number of working days the apply form promises ("We reply within 2 working days"). Pick one you can keep.
  4. Click Save.

A Trade page is added to your site as a draft. Publish your site when you are ready. Trade customers and Price lists appear next to Orders in the editor menu. While trade prices are off, those two pages say so and change nothing.

Make a price list

A price list is a set of prices you give to a group of businesses. Open Price lists and click New price list.

  • Name: for you only, for example "Cafes".
  • Percent off the normal price: takes this much off every product. Or choose Only the prices I set below to give a price only to the products you set.
  • Minimum order: the smallest basket that list may check out with, counted at trade prices and before delivery. Leave it blank for none.
  • Set price: type a trade price for one product or variant. A set price wins over the percent off.
  • Sold in: for a product that is sold in packs, enter the number, for example 5. Those customers can then only buy 5, 10, 15 and so on. The basket rounds up and says why.
  • Leave out: the business pays the normal price for that product. Put back undoes it.

Each row shows the normal price next to the trade price, so you can check it before you save. You can have up to 20 price lists. A list that a business uses cannot be deleted until you move them to another list.

Trade prices follow your tax setting. If your normal prices include tax, so do the trade prices (see Currency, tax and language).

Approve a business

When a business applies on your trade page you get an email, and the request waits on Trade customers, under Waiting.

  1. Open Trade customers and click Review next to the business.
  2. Choose its Price list.
  3. Click Approve.

They get an email with the address to sign in. Click Turn down instead if you do not want to trade with them. You are asked why, and they see your reason. Approve after all is there if you change your mind. Approved and Turned down are separate tabs.

You can also click Add one yourself, for someone who rang you rather than applying. They are approved at once and emailed.

To let an approved business pay later instead of at checkout, see Pay on account for trade customers.

What the business sees

On your Trade page they apply once, then sign in with their email: they click Email me a code, type the six digit code from the email, and click Sign in. A code works for 10 minutes. Five wrong tries use up a code, so they click Send a new code for a fresh one. After many wrong tries the page asks them to wait, and no new code is sent until they can use it. They stay signed in on that browser for 30 days, or until they click Sign out.

When signed in, product pages, the basket and checkout show their trade prices. Your normal price appears crossed out beside it. Their price list's minimum order and pack sizes are checked in the basket. The checkout uses the price the shop works out itself from their list, so a price cannot be changed from the page.

Let your AI assistant help

If you switch on AI access for the Shop app, your assistant can list trade customers, show your price lists with every trade price, approve a customer and change a price list. Approving a customer and changing a price list both need you to confirm in the editor. Only an owner or admin can approve a customer.

Common questions

Can the same business have two price lists? No. Each trade customer has one price list. Move them to another list from Trade customers if they change.

What happens if I switch trade prices off? Everyone sees normal prices, the trade link goes away, and signed-in businesses are treated like any other buyer. Your lists and customers are kept for when you switch it on again.

Can a business see another business's prices? No. They only see the prices on their own list.
