Choose your business type for the shop

Pick the kind of business you run and the shop switches on what you are likely to need.

Updated 7 Oct 2026

The first time you open Shop settings on a new shop, you see a setup screen: What kind of business is this? Pick the one closest to yours, for example Bakery or cafe, Florist, Boutique or fashion, Food or tea importer, Maker or artisan or Services, then click Continue. If you would rather do it yourself, click Skip, I will set it up myself.

Your pick does two things. It switches on the parts of the shop that business usually needs: sizes and colours, questions for the buyer, discount codes and stock counting. It also sets how orders reach the buyer: pickup, local delivery, shipping by post, and whether the buyer is asked for a date. Some types also add a starter question, such as "What should the card say?" for a florist.

The next screen, Here is what we switched on, lists what the pick did. Change anything you like, then click Looks right.

Nothing is locked in. Every switch can be changed afterwards in Shop settings. To pick again, open Shop settings and click Change business type at the top of the lists. Your pick never changes your currency, your tax, how buyers pay, or Lots and best-before.

If your shop was open before this existed

It shows as Bakery or cafe and works exactly as before: the same pickup and delivery, the same dates asked at checkout. Nothing changes until you change a setting yourself.

Time slots and the daily limit

On the review step, Delivery time slots and Daily limit are real switches. Switching Delivery time slots on turns the feature on; you add the windows later in Shop settings, under Shipping and delivery. Switching Daily limit on starts you at 20 orders a day, which you can change right there. A full day shows as Full at checkout.

Things marked Coming soon

Some types mention parts that are not built yet, for example memberships. They show on the grey Coming soon line at the foot of a list in Shop settings. The shop sells products and takes payment for them today.

Ask the AI to set it up

In the editor you can describe your business in one sentence, for example "I run a florist in Tampines, deliver to the East area for $12, and pickup from my shop". The AI sets up the shop switches, delivery and pickup, tells you what it changed, and gives you a way to undo it. Before it changes your currency, your tax or how buyers pay, it asks you to confirm in the editor. It never connects Stripe for you. Each AI edit uses credits, like any other AI edit. See What credits are and how they are used.
